GRAN TURISMO 4: PROLOGUE
~ABOUT~

Gran Turismo 4: Prologue was released prior to Gran Turismo 4, hence the Prologue name, and it is basically just a really big demo disk or preview of GT4. It was only sold in Japan, China and the Europe/PAL region. The game had the new GT4 engine in it which meant the handling/physics had changed, the graphics were better and car sounds improved too. As far as what i think of it; it is the best handling, best looking, best sounding and most realistic Gran Turismo *ever*. Well it was until bettered by GT4 itself!

Sixty-four cars and five tracks are included in the game which would be the same as GT Concept were it not for the fact that GT Concept has 31 more driveable cars than Prologue (yes, i counted!). Plus, the tracks in Prologue have never been in a previous Gran Turismo game before and are all real tracks or locations.

VIEWS

Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2 both had three car views, one internal, one behind the car view and another view which was further behind the car and up a little higher than the other external view (chase cam). GT3 and GTC only had two car views, the internal and behind car view. This upset many people who used the chase cam in the first two games and Polyphony Digital have since bought that third view back, in Prologue.

CARS

As mentioned earlier GT4:P has 64 driveable cars most of them concept, classic, new, or old, Japanese cars. There are American cars in the game but no big old muscle cars, European cars are included also.

I've listed 15 of them below but if you want to check out the whole lot, including the cars which only the AI can drive, then click here.

TRACKS

There are five racetracks in GT4: Prologue (GT Concept also had five).

Tsukuba Circuit (Japan)
~ Which is a small but very fun course. Great for quick races or drifting. Also one of the most famous Japanese circuits.

New York (U.S.A.)
~ Is enclosed in massive skyscraping buildings and the detail in this level is quite amazing. Consists of a lot of 90° corners plus two very long straights.

Grand Canyon (U.S.A.)
~ Is the most realistic looking track in any Gran Turismo, EVER. In a first for Gran Turismo this rally track is very, very narrow and has a lot of very tight corners. Lots of fun when you get used to it!

Fuji International Speedway (Japan)
~ Great for high powered cars, 300km/h can be surpassed on the main straight with cars such as the Ford GT and BMW McLaren F1 GTR. A very nice circuit.

Citta di Aria (Italy)
~ Another first for Gran Turismo is this insanely narrow Italian street course. It gets so narrow in places that you could only fit about two and a quarter cars (side by side) in the gap! When you race through this at high speed without touching the walls you get a great sense of acheivement.
